About Us
The Talking Little Feet web-site was born out of the Little Robes program located at The Family Place in Nelson B.C. Little Robes is an Aboriginal childcare program promoting healthy babies and preschoolers and is an initiative of Ktunaxa/Kinbasket Child and Family Services and Kootenay Kids*.
The purpose of Little Robes is to:

- establish and develop culturally relevant resources to meet the needs of families
- promote healthy children through parental support and child development education (ages and stages)
- provide any necessary advocacy and referrals
- facilitate meetings or teachings for families that support traditional practice
- develop strategies to meet the nutritional needs of children
- provide pre-natal care information
- assist parents in promoting health and wellness in their children through medical, dental, speech, language, hearing, special needs, and optical advocacy
- provide a safe space for parents to bring their children and share in cultural dialogue and crafts, food and stories, people learn and reconnect with their history and each other
Little Robes is co-ordinated by the Aboriginal Early Intervention Worker at the Family Place. Talking Little Feet is also maintained by the Aboriginal Early Intervention Worker who collaborates with other Aboriginal and non-aboriginal organizations and services to create the Talking Little Feet quarterly newsletter.
